I came to Helen Law as a last effort to resolve my irregular periods.  All of my life I had “normal” periods. When I turned 42 they started to get longer (eventually 9 days long), the flow was very heavy with a lot of clots, and very painful.   My gynecologist told me I had started perimenopause and that birth control pills were the best solution until I reached menopause.  Then she told me it could be 10 years before that happened.  I tried two different birth control medications.  They did help to shorten the length of my periods and some of the cramping but I had to deal with the side effects.  At the age of 45 I had become anemic, was bleeding almost everyday, and was extremely fatigued.  That’s when I found Helen.  Within minutes of my first visit I knew that acupuncture would help me.  Helen was confidant and warm and caring.  She felt my pulse and told me what was going on with my body.  And she was right on!

Helen treated me with weekly acupuncture and Chinese supplements.  Within days, I had stopped bleeding and my energy was coming back at a rapid pace. I felt better than I had in years!  I will continue my treatment with Helen and am confidant that my periods will be regulated.

I was referred to Chinese Acupuncture Healthcare by my dentist for acupuncture treatment for TMJ. I have been suffering from moderate to serious symptoms of TMJ for over five years. During my first visit with Helen, she immediately identified and explained that my TMJ was a result of neck and back alignment issues. Consequently, Helen began treating the sources that were causing the misalignment of my jaw. Previous to my acupuncture treatment, chewing, opening and closing my mouth, and even talking for extended periods of time became extremely painful. After only two treatment sessions, my pain nearly disappeared. For the past five years, I have tried different treatments for pain caused by TMJ, including a night guard and injections in the jaw. Although these treatments provided temporary relief, my TMJ symptoms continued and became more intense over the years. Helen's approach to treatment is comprehensive, gentle and offers a long term and permanent solution for my TMJ.

Helen's approach to TMJ treatment is unique and effective because she focuses on the root of the problem. Unlike many other healthcare providers, Helen spent a great deal of time trying to gain an understanding of all of the contributors of TMJ symptoms including stress and anxiety, instead of simply focusing on my area of pain. After two years of seeking medical help and seeing five medical doctors whose diagnoses ranged from perimenopause to a possible thyroid disorder, I was finally diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). It had been 10 months since I had a menses and after being misdiagnosed I decided to seek a more natural form of treatment. I am very pleased to announce that after two months of acupuncture and herbal therapy I have had a period for the past three months. I have been receiving acupuncture from Jennifer and her mother Helen since July 2006. I've never met such caring and concerned healers, they saved my life. I have had Irritable Bowel Syndrome since March 2006 from taking three different antibiotics last March for two different health problems. My gastro doctor prescribed every test, including stool specimens and several drugs which didn't help. I turned to acupuncture which has not only helped me, but made a huge difference in my life. I was seeing Jennifer twice a week for several months, but now only once a week. The acupuncture treatments Jennifer gave me have performed miracles on my bowels and my left knee which has given me problems since I'm walking every day. I also have had problems with back pain-I have had two fusions.

Now I've been seeing Jennifer on Friday. She always asked me how I was feeling and was very concerned when I've had setbacks. When the Chinese herbs that Jennifer suggested weren't working, she didn't give up, but finally gave me the "right" ones which now have made a big difference.

I have more faith in Chinese Acupuncture which has been around for over 5,000 years than I have in "modern medicine". I discuss their suggestions with Jennifer before I act on them. Jennifer suggested that I contact Veronique, the nutritionist and they have changed my life. I walk for at least half an hour in the morning and without Jennifer's help, I'd still be a basket case.Thank you and you know I will always be grateful to you.

I wanted to take a moment to share my story with your patients at Princeton Integrative Health Center. My mother, sister and I have been patients of Helen for the past year and during that time I was struggling with my son Jack's lack of language and speech development. In search of answers, my husband and I talked with parents, friends, family members, etc. to gain their perspective. Some of Jack's symptoms included wandering eyes, repetitive patterns, and lack of communication. Over the course of the year, my husband and I visited a developmental pediatrician who diagnosed our son as speech delayed.

Afraid and embarrassed, I was uncomfortable sharing my story. My mother and Helen had a conversation and my mom explained my concerns about Jack. Helen's response to my mom was – "Tell Kathryn to bring him in to the office. I think I can help." I finally mustered up enough courage to schedule an appointment. Immediately, Helen found the problem. She identified his occipital muscle as the source of the problem and through a series of cranial manipulations she was able to open the passageway and allow the blood to flow to the brain.

Today, Jack Gregory Aumack is a different child. Immediately following the cranial manipulations, Jack's vision and auditory problem disappeared. He responds to my call, follows my directions, has become much more verbal, can ride a bike and even use the potty. What an amazing difference!

I am truly grateful for Helen's magical hands and positive approach.

I am very grateful to you for the excellent acupuncture treatment you provided for my right eye which was diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration about six years ago. After a short period of treatment at the rate of once a week for over one month, I no longer saw any distortion in the grid, and this has continued. At my regular eye exam some time later, my doctor remarked that the drusen had shrunk from spots to pinpoints. She further noticed improvement in my glaucoma field test as it related to macular degeneration, and in another test. I was able to read one line better on the eye chart.

I am a 45 year old woman who has suffered from "overactive bladder" for all of my life. My symptoms consisted of severe daily frequency and urgency. I also have a history of multiple UTIs as a child and young woman, but did not have as many after my early 30s. I started taking Ditropan in 1977 and found that over the years the dose needed to be raised as my symptoms increased. I was on the maximum daily oral dose (30 mg) for many years. Last year I developed worsening symptoms where I would sometimes have to use the bathroom every 15 minutes for several hours per day. I also developed almost constant pain and burning in my bladder. I was diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. I was switched from Ditropan XL to the Oxytrol patch to help alleviate the cholinergic side effects that I had been experiencing from the oral form of Ditropan. While this did diminish the side effects, it wasn't strong enough, so I was prescribed an additional 15 mg of Ditropan as kept on using the patch. This still did not fully control my frequency and urgency. I still used the bathroom about once an hour if I was lucky. I was able to partially relieve the pain and burning and some of the urgency by modifying my diet, but after a while the symptoms came back no matter what my diet was like. It was at this point that I saw Helen Law. After my first acupuncture session, the constant pain and burning in my bladder disappeared and my former frequency diminished remarkably and I had almost no urgency. I felt like a normal person who is not controlled by her bladder. I stopped taking the Ditropan and the frequency and urgency did not worsen. The pain and burning started coming back after several days, but they were much milder. At this point, I had my second acupuncture session. Almost immediately my bladder discomfort went away. I tried to stop using the Oxytrol patch, but found that the urgency returned, so I resumed it. I am looking forward to my third session and will again try to stop using the patch. I am still fine without the Ditropan. Even if I am not able to manage without the Oxytrol patch, I consider the acupuncture to be a great success. The overactive bladder preceded my interstitial cystitis by decades, and I believe complicated it. It is wonderful to no longer have constant pain and burning and not to make many urgent trips to the bathroom each day.

I've had chronic benign positional vertigo for about eight years. I haven't been able to lie down or get up without the room "spinning."
I've adapted to it but, it's limited many of my activities. I felt it was related to muscle tension in my neck and back but, deep tissue massage, previous acupuncture and recent chiropractic wouldn't relieve it. In my first treatment with Helen she confirmed my theory and immediately found the "trigger spots." This will sound astounding but, my chronic vertigo disappeared during the first session. I was amazed. I can now jump out of bed in the morning!
